A Real Experience With Plan Enhancer

Hi, I’m Angelo Maimone, Compliance Manager with FLC Insurance Services. I don’t normally promote the products we offer, but because of my personal experience with this one, I think everyone needs to know the benefits.
In 2025, after an emergency room visit resulted in a hospital admission, I wasn't able to work for 3 weeks. Thankfully my health insurance covered my medical expenses, but the lost time from work could have really caused a financial burden. Because I also had Plan Enhancer coverage, it didn't and I received a $17,500 check within 2 weeks after I submitted my claim.
The benefit was paid to me and I was able to use that money for everything I needed to ease the financial burden of missing work.
That experience showed me why supplemental cash-benefit coverage is valuable even for someone who already has comprehensive health insurance.

How Plan Enhancer Works
Choose Your Coverage
Select the available benefit amount and optional coverage riders that fit your needs and budget.
Experience a Covered Event
If you experience an eligible accident, hospitalization, cancer diagnosis, heart attack, or stroke, benefits may become payable based on your selected coverage and the applicable policy provisions.
Receive Cash Benefits
Approved benefits are paid according to the policy’s benefit schedule. The money can generally be used for medical or nonmedical expenses.
Plan Enhancer is designed to work alongside your existing health insurance, but you do not need health insurance to get it. This product is not a replacement for comprehensive major medical coverage, but can provide a financial benefit after health related incidents.
Build Coverage Around Your Needs
Choose the base accident coverage and add optional riders for hospitalization and critical illness protection.
Accident Medical Expense
- Benefits for eligible accident-related medical expenses
- No policy deductible
- Benefits may be payable regardless of other medical coverage
- No network restrictions
- No waiting period
- Accidental death and dismemberment benefits may be included
- Ground ambulance and durable medical equipment benefits may be included
- Can potentially be purchased without adding the optional riders
Sickness Hospitalization
Provides a scheduled lump-sum benefit for a qualifying covered hospital admission due to sickness, subject to the rider’s terms.
Cancer and Heart/Stroke
Provides scheduled lump-sum cash benefits following certain covered first diagnoses of cancer, heart attack, or stroke, subject to the rider’s definitions and terms.

The following is a hypothetical example for illustration only.
Example Only
Depending on the selected Plan Enhancer coverage and the qualifying covered event, the supplemental benefit may exceed the insured’s direct medical out-of-pocket expenses. Any remaining cash can help with other financial needs.
This example is for illustration only and is not a promise of benefits. Actual benefits depend on the insured’s selected coverage, the specific covered event, the policy benefit schedule, exclusions, limitations, state availability, and claim approval.

Who Should Consider This Coverage?
Plan Enhancer may be worth considering if one or more of the following applies to you.
- You already have health insurance but want additional cash protection.
- You have a deductible, copayments, coinsurance, or an annual out-of-pocket maximum.
- Missing work because of an accident or illness could affect your household finances.
- You want funds that can help with nonmedical expenses during recovery.
- You have limited emergency savings.
- You support children, a spouse, or other family members.
- You want additional accident, hospitalization, or critical illness protection.
- You prefer a guaranteed-issue option when available.
Already have a low-deductible health plan?
Supplemental coverage may still be useful. Major medical insurance is primarily designed to pay eligible health care expenses. A supplemental cash-benefit plan can provide additional funds that may be used for broader financial needs.
